UEFA Announces The Winners Of the Young and Best Player of the Tournament, and POTM Awards
Manchester City star Rodri won the Euro 2024 Player of the Tournament award while Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal was also recognised.
In a thrilling conclusion to the Euro 2024 final in Berlin, substitute Mikel Oyarzabal’s late goal secured Spain a 2-1 victory over England, according to Eurosports.
Oyarzabal’s decisive strike came in the 86th minute, expertly finishing from Marc Cucurella’s precise pass, delivering a crushing blow to Gareth Southgate’s team.
The first half saw both teams struggling to make significant breakthroughs, but Spain shifted gears in the second half. Nico Williams opened the scoring in the 47th minute, capitalizing on a brilliant setup by Yamine Lamal.
England, undeterred, continued to press and found an equalizer in the 73rd minute.
Cole Palmer, who had just come on as a substitute for Harry Kane, found the back of the net, providing a momentary hope for England’s supporters.
However, Spain’s relentless pursuit paid off with Oyarzabal’s late winner.
The victory solidified Spain’s dominance in the tournament, celebrating their seventh consecutive win in finals.
Meanwhile, England’s quest for a major trophy extends beyond 58 years, leaving them with another bitter defeat to reflect on.
