Raytheon, an RTX business, has been awarded a $1.2 billion contract to supply Germany with additional Patriot air and missile defense systems.

This new deal aims to enhance Germany’s existing air defense infrastructure by providing the latest Patriot Configuration 3+ systems, which include advanced radars, launchers, command and control stations, and associated spares and support.

“Patriot remains the tried-and-true stalwart of air and missile defense, relied upon by our global customers to deter aggression and defend their interests,” said Tom Laliberty, president of Land and Air Defense Systems at Raytheon. “With each additional Patriot system, Germany is enhancing its own air defenses and strengthening NATO’s defense posture.”

The Patriot missile defense system, developed by Raytheon, is renowned for its combat-proven capability to counter a wide array of threats. These include advanced long-range cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles, and the full spectrum of air-breathing threats. The system’s reliability and effectiveness have made it the cornerstone of air defense for 19 countries, including Germany, the United States, and Ukraine.

Germany’s decision to bolster its air defense with additional Patriot systems underscores the ongoing need for advanced defensive capabilities in the face of evolving global threats. The latest Configuration 3+ systems incorporate state-of-the-art technology, ensuring that Germany can effectively protect its airspace against the most sophisticated attacks.

The contract entails the delivery of major end items, including the most current Patriot Configuration 3+ radars, launchers, and command and control stations. These components are critical for detecting, tracking, and neutralizing incoming threats. The inclusion of associated spares and support ensures that the systems remain operational and effective over time.

The Patriot system’s combat record speaks for itself. It has been deployed successfully in numerous conflicts and has consistently demonstrated its ability to neutralize diverse and complex threats. Its advanced radar and missile technology allow for precise targeting and interception, making it a formidable component of any nation’s defense strategy.
