From his resting place in Namibia, His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda spoke to the World about his health and also appreciated the people for the commitment of standing with him in this period.
Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has appealed to his subjects to remain “united and faithful” as he recuperates from an illness that has kept him abroad for three months.
“Our strength lies in unity,” said Kabaka in a video statement released on Monday afternoon by Buganda’s Prime Minister Peter Mayiga.
“We urge our people to remain united during these trying times.”
In his proof-of-life speech, the visibly frail King did not disclose his location.
However, Namibian officials said Mutebi, 69, has been receiving treatment at a private medical facility in the country (Okonguarri Psychotherapeutic Centre) since April 2024.
Mutebi’s illness has been fodder for bloggers with some accusing Prime Minister Peter Mayiga of “hiding the King from his people.”
