AFRICA PUBLIC SERVICE DAY* has been marked in Kampala City with a clarion call to eliminate corruption in public service

 Hundreds of civil servants converged at the City Square at 7.am adorning white shirts engraved, “Empowering a Citizen-Centered Public Service for an Inclusive and Thriving 21st Century Africa.” They marched to Kololo ceremony grounds to the tunes of the police band and carrying ministry banners and led by the PS Public Service,  Catherine Birikwate and the KCCA Executive Director, Dorothy Kisaka
Addressing the public servants at Kololo, H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni acknowledged both successes and challenges faced by the public sector. He was represented by the Vice President Jessica Alupo as chief guest at the event. He was categorical in the call to eliminate corruption in service delivery, saying “the corrupt will not be tolerated”
The event organised by the Ministry of Public Service attracted a wide cross section of government leaders, including the Minister of state for Public Service Grace Mugasa and the Head of Public Service, Lucy Nakyobe, and other Permanent Secretaries, Directors and Commissioners.
KCCA was among the exhibitors, showing the modern urban farming methods practised at the KCCA farm in Kyanja. delivery. In her remarks to the press, Kisaka rechoed the need to continue the fight against corruption throughout the public service to ensure quick service delivery especially the delivery of roads. She called for the promotion of the culture of working in effective teams, the use of digital solutions, and promoting the establishment of one-stop centres.
