Pastor Malinga Richard, a 36-year-old Etesot and pastor at the Baptist Church in Abila, Petete sub-county, Pallisa district, was killed on the evening of Monday, June 17th on his way home.

After the prayer sessions, reports say Pastor Malinga passed by his computer service business at the Kanyumu trading centre in Butebo District. He then borrowed a motorcycle from his fellow pastor, Okia Charles, with the registration number UFA 601S Bajaj boxer, to ride home.
“It was on the main road between Butebo and Oladoti village at the Kayete Swamp in Akisim A village, Akisim parish, Kanyumu sub-county, Butebo district, that unknown assailants attacked and killed Pastor Malinga,” SP Semewo Samuel, the Bukedi North Police Spokesperson said, adding that the Pastor’s body was found lying in a pool of blood with three deep wounds to the head.
SP Semewo said police arrived at the scene early the next morning and launched an investigation.
“A police canine was used to track the assailants, leading investigators about 80 meters from the crime scene to a bridge over the swamp, where it appears the killers cleaned themselves before fleeing on a motorcycle,” he said.
Meanwhile, A murder file case has been opened vid CRB 178/2024 at Butebo CPS according to SP Semewo Samuel and “Inquiries are ongoing as efforts to apprehend the perpetrators continue.”
