MAMELODI SUNDOWNS TO OFFER NEW DEAL FOR GRANT KEKANA

Come the 30th of June, the 31-year-old from Polokwane will be without a contract. According to iDiski Times, the former University of Pretoria and SuperSport United star has a one-year option extension, and Sundowns are obviously keen to renew.

“Mamelodi Sundowns are “in talks” with defender Grant Kekana as they look to extend his stay at Chloorkop,” the outlet reported.

“Information received by this publication states that Masandawana are looking to trigger the one-year option in his contract, which will see him staying at the club beyond June 2026,” the note added.

BONGANI ZUNGU LEAVING

Football is full of drama. Mamelodi Sundowns star Bongani Zungu has dropped a bombshell.

The 31-year-old star from Duduza, Gauteng joined Kabo Yellow in August 2022 as a free agent after leaving Amiens in France. Suddenly, Zungu has just announced he is leaving Sundowns via Instagram.

“I say with a heavy heart that I will be leaving the club,” Zungu said.

Full Statement:

“I would like to thank Mamelodi Sundowns fans, technical team and the President for the last two seasons.

“The relationship I have with the club is beyond the professional space, sundowns will always be family to me and the entire Zungu family.

“I will always be grateful for every opportunity I was offered, so I say this with a heavy heart that I will be leaving the club.

“Thank you to all the amazing supporters who have been amazing to me throughout, I will always be grateful.

“I wish the team all the best, I know bigger success awaits you.

I can’t say this enough, Thank You KBY💛,” the outgoing Sundowns star concluded.

BRIAN ONYANGO ALSO LEAVING SUNDOWNS

Mamelodi Sundowns, like all teams around the world, have to create space for new players ahead of the upcoming season. Brian Onyango is said to be on his way out of Kabo Yellow.

Onyango, 29, joined the DStv Premiership champions as a free agent in October 2020. With six championships but only nine appearances this season, the Kenyan is said to be leaving Sundowns when his contract expires at the end of the month.

“SABC Sport can confirm that defender Brian Onyango will be leaving Mamelodi Sundowns when his contract runs out on 30 June,” SABC Sport reported.

“The public broadcaster understands that with the player’s initial deal coming to an end a decision was taken not to extend his stay further – but the centre back will look back at his spell with The Brazilians as a hugely successful one,” the report added.
