Rwandan couple kill their Ugandan employer, arrested fleeing the Country

Two Rwandan Nationals have confessed to have murdered an 83 year old man who was found dead in his house in Karujabura cell, Kitumba Sub county of Kabale district.

The suspects identified as Desire Kwizera 26 and his wife one Uwingabire were arrested on Saturday from at Bunagana border in Kisoro district as they were trying to escape, after they were suspected to be behind the murder of an 83 year old man Geoffrey Twinomujuni Ntegyire, a resident of Karujabura cell in Mwendo parish, of Kabale district.

On Monday, 3rd June 2024, Police took the suspects to the scene of crime in the house of the deceased where they were staying in the nearby room of the same house as the deceased’s helper in selling porridge, demonstrated how they killed him before taking off with all the household items including a mattress, an iron box, a Radio, a suitcase and bicycle.

The suspects told police that they killed Twinomujuni because he used to annoy them using Runyankore- Rukiga abusive words.

Biryomumeisho Annacalet, the local council one chairperson of Karujabura cell in Mwendo Parish, Kitumba Sub County raised a red flag on landlords who don’t register their tenants with his office. He added that there are also cases of marijuana smokers, a situation likely to culminate a number of similar murders.

The Kitumba Sub County Chairperson David Muhereza Kato, said that the deceased was discovered in a pool of blood with five marks pierced on the head and his mattress was taken away.

The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate said that the suspects were arrested with the above-mentioned property and upon completion of investigations; they will be arraigned before courts of law to answer charges accordingly.

Maate added that they were arrested from the border area for not having relevant documents but only to find out that they are the suspects in the murder of the deceased.
