Jadon Sancho’s loan spell at Borussia Dortmund has come to an end
Jadon Sancho’s second spell at Borussia Dortmund came to an end after Saturday’s Champions League final at Wembley.
Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has thanked everyone associated with Borussia Dortmund for “believing in me” following the conclusion of his loan spell at the Bundesliga outfit.
Sancho returned to the German club in January, signing on loan for the remainder of the season after being frozen out by United manager Erik ten Hag. The winger ultimately accused the United boss of lying after a 3-1 defeat at Arsenal last September and refused to apologise.
Sancho brought the curtain down on his second spell at Dortmund by starting Saturday night’s 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final at Wembley. Madrid won a 15th European crown after late goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior.
Sancho will now return to United, but it remains to be seen what the future will hold for him, with Ten Hag’s own future at Old Trafford likely to play a factor. Dortmund have already confirmed they would like to sign the 24-year-old for a third time.
Reflecting on his loan spell at Dortmund, Sancho has issued a heartfelt message on his X page, formerly known as Twitter, to pay tribute to his teammates, the staff and the supporters.
He wrote: “What a crazy six months. We win together we lose together, these moments only make us stronger! I’m so grateful to be a part of such an amazing group of players! I want to congratulate Real Madrid on winning the Champions League.
“We came up short on the night, but we should be super proud of ourselves. We are a family and these moments won’t break us! Thank you to everybody who came out to support us on such a special day!
