The CAF Capacity Building Programme, one of the key building blocks of the CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental, held a successful week-long educational programme in Zanzibar in the sidelines of the Continental Finals currently underway in the Island.

More than 160 youngsters have graduated from the Programme this week.

Africa’s top legends, CAF Legends Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Adebayor, Amanda Dlamini, and Abdi Kassim are some of the names that joined Graduation.

CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals kicked-off on Tuesday this week and the Final will be played on Friday, 25 May 2024 at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.

The Capacity Building Programme focuses on skills and development targeting kids at school and aspiring officers.

The programmes include the Young Referees Programme, Young Medical Officer Programme, Young Reporters Programme, CAF D License Coaching course and CAF Safeguarding which were all led by CAF, with invited industry experts to educate and equip the youngsters.

CAF Third Vice-President, Souleiman Waberi, who was at the Graduation programme congratulated the participants.

“The graduation marks another milestone in the ever-developing story of African football. Young Africans – some still in their tender teenage years, from across the continent have been equipped to take the African game to even greater heights. This speaks to the visionary leadership of CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe in developing future African leaders. Not only is this another ground-breaking initiative by CAF, but it is also an exemplary position that African football is setting for the continent to follow suit in ensuring that youth in Africa is educated and empowered,” Waberi said.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives from CECAFA, COSAFA and the Tanzanian Football Federation amongst other key football stakeholders.

The CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals continue today.

Matches continue to be streamed live on CAF’s official YouTube channel, CAF TV with exclusive behind-the-scenes content available across CAF’s digital platforms using #ASFC24.
