Man Arrested for Sabotaging Census Exercise in Kisoro District

A 43-year-old man, Bahizi Alex, residing in Kabuga village, Muganza parish, Chahi Sub County, Kisoro district, was arrested today at Kisoro Central Police Station for sabotaging the census exercise.

Deputy RDC of Kisoro, Robert Tukamuhebwa, revealed that Bahizi refused to participate in the enumeration for unclear reasons, citing his personal beliefs and religion, which contravenes the government census program.

He was reported to the authorities by the LC1 chairperson of the village, leading to his arrest.

Bahizi also warned that those sharing his negative sentiments would face similar consequences.

Robert urged religious leaders and believers not to obstruct government programs like the census, emphasizing the importance of cooperation for proper national planning.

Meanwhile, Merida Mukeshimana, the communications officer for Kisoro district, announced that 24,350 families have been enumerated across the district in the first three days, indicating significant progress.

She urged the public to cooperate with enumerators by providing the necessary information, essential for delivering required services to the population.
