The National Unit Platform (NUP) in Mubende has launched that party’s Red Book registration campaign for members.

Members flocked the party offices in Kirungi Cell, Mubende Municipality, for registration.

NUP members who received the party cards promised to keep the fire burning until they get the victory come 2026 general elections.

Lawrence Akansimiira told Nile Post that as a foot soldier, he had waited for this day to come.

“All along we the foot soldiers in Mubende have been waiting for registration day, now here we’re,” he said.

Akansimiira called upon all NUP supporters to turn up in big numbers for the registration exercise, saying this is the only opportunity to get the victory in the coming elections.

‘We cannot hesitate from getting the prty cards and I call up on all NUP diehards to be registered in our red book. This is the time to show that NUP is everywhere and we are the majority hoping to win 2026 general election,” he added.

MS Agnes Nakeeya, another party member, lauded NUP for the initiative, saying the journey for success has started.

“Last time some of us we didn’t get the cards but this time we have got a chance and we are going to mobilise our comrades to turn up in big numbers,” she said.

The Nile Post understands that the exercise is not without the usual political gymnaistics with some party members accusing security operatives of intimidation.

David Kyeyune, a councillor representing Kasana Ward in Mubende Municipality, said some of the security operatives were “planning to fail us” adding that they were more determined with the cause.

Pafradito Kyeyune, the Mubende chairperson of NUP’s mobilisation ambit ‘Kunga’, said they expect to register 500,000 party members in the district.”When you look at the votes our president [Robert] Kyagulanyi got in Mubende in 2021, he got More than 400,000 and we can confirm that our supporters kept increasing, that’s why we are sure about the number,” Kyeyune said.He added that the party party has registration centres in villages across the district, calling upon members not to hesitate.Mubende District has 19 sub-counties and officials expect to announce the results of the registration by the end of the month.
