UPDF Earns Praise for Namboole Stadium Renovation

Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among graced Mandela National Stadium, colloquially known as Namboole, as part of her oversight duties to government projects. Amidst the cacophony of construction, the stadium stands at a reported 90% completion, a testament to the ongoing renovation efforts fueled by the release of the remaining Shs17.7 billion balance by the Finance Ministry. This injection of funds aims to expedite the project, ensuring its readiness to co-host AFCON 2027 alongside Kenya and Tanzania.

However, amidst the backdrop of progress, Lieutenant Colonel Peter Kidemuka, the projector Engineer for Namboole stadium, dropped a bombshell revelation: a portion of the mammoth Shs97 billion allocated for renovation was diverted to compensate and vacate the resident witch doctor of Omusamba Namboole. This unexpected twist, aimed at appeasing spectral guardians and ensuring smooth construction, added a surreal layer to an already surreal saga.

Unfazed by the occult imbroglio, Speaker Anita Among expressed her utmost satisfaction with the UPDF Engineering Brigade’s work on refurbishing the National Stadium. In a moment of candid praise, she hailed their efforts as a shining example of local competence, challenging the prevailing narrative of foreign reliance in major projects. Amidst the construction chaos, Among’s endorsement of local talent provided a glimmer of hope amidst the murky waters of bureaucratic mismanagement.

In a startling update, Speaker Among directed the Ministry of Education and Sports to pen a letter to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), urging them to revisit and reassess Namboole Stadium’s eligibility to host the CHAN tournament within two weeks. This directive comes in response to CAF’s previous refusal to approve the stadium, citing infrastructural deficiencies and logistical concerns. Among’s proactive stance seeks to rectify these issues, positioning Uganda as a viable contender on the international sporting stage.
