Lubega Vincent Nsamba, affiliated with the National Unity Platform (NUP), has emerged triumphant as Makerere University’s 90th Guild President. The heated online election, conducted by the Makerere University 90th Electoral Commission, culminated with Nsamba securing 2540 votes, clinching victory by a razor-thin margin.
The battle for the coveted position saw Nsamba’s closest contender, Ariho Edmond, nipping at his heels with 2536 votes, resulting in a nail-biting four-vote difference that secured the runner-up spot. Kasekende Fulungensio claimed the position of second runner-up with a commendable 1674 votes, while Wandukwa Simon secured the fourth spot with 1039 votes.
Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Kirunda Ramadhan, revealed that an impressive 25,000 students were anticipated to participate in the election, underscoring the significant engagement from the vibrant student body
Assuming the role of Guild President, Nsamba shoulders the responsibility of championing the interests of the student community, advocating for their rights, and collaborating with university administration to address pressing issues affecting the campus.
Nsamba’s victory has ignited a wave of enthusiasm and anticipation on social media platforms, with students eagerly anticipating the leadership of the newly elected Guild President.
