Bobi Wine appoints Zedriga, not Mpuuga as acting NUP President

The Opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) leader, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has appointed Dr Lina Zedriga to act as the acting NUP president for a period of 10 days for which he will be out of the country.

Bobi Wine in a letter dated March 03, 2024, a copy of which this website has exclusively seen skipped his immediate Deputy President, Hon Mathias Mpuuga (who is currently at loggerheads with the party leadership over the Shs500m ‘service award’ as LoP) for Dr Zedriga raising eyebrows in the eyes of the public.

“In accordance with Article 7(1) (g) of the Party Constitution, I hereby appoint you Acting President of the National Unity Platform for ten (10)days from 5th March to 15th March 2024, during which period I will be out of the country,” Mr Kyagulanyi said in the letter (below).

NUP’s leadership structure

The National Unity Platform is headed by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, who in the execution of his duties is assisted by four deputy presidents from the four main regions of Uganda.

These include; Hon Mathias Mpuuga, deputy president in charge of the Central region, Mr John Baptist Nambesh, in charge of Eastern Uganda, Jolly Mugisha Ekyomugasho, in charge of the western region and Dr Lina Zedriga, in charge of the North.

The four join Flavia Kalule Nabagabe, the NUP Women’s League Chairperson, Joel Ssenyonyi the spokesperson, David Lewis Rubongoya, the secretary-general, Aisha Kabanda deputy SG and Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu, the secretary for mobilization.

As Acting President, Dr. Lina Zedriga is expected to maintain the party’s momentum and ensure that its objectives remain at the forefront of the political agenda. Her leadership during this period will be closely watched by party members, supporters, and political observers alike.
