Prince Harry told to ‘back off’ after King Charles visit which ‘can’t have done much good

Prince Harry flew back to the UK for a brief 30-minute visit with his father King Charles after learning of his cancer diagnosis.

Prince Harry has been told to “back off” by a royal expert after King Charles’s shock cancer diagnosis saw him fly across the world to see him.

The 75-year-old monarch’s diagnosis came after a planned prostate operation, with the King since undergoing treatment and remaining “wholly positive”.

But now a royal expert has told the Duke of Sussex to “back off” as the family deal with the news. Ingrid Seward, editor in chief of Majesty magazine, told Fabulous: “The stress of Prince Harry’s impulsive behaviour cannot have helped the King’s health.

“He loves his son but never knows what he is going to do next. To a man of his vintage – he is 76 this year – the idea of someone flying 11 hours across the Atlantic to see him for less than an hour is madness.

“The carbon footprint: the cost of first class return flights – over £6,000 – and the mental stress for someone as sensitive as Harry is not what his father could have wanted.

“How much happier he would have been I imagine if Harry had waited a while and then spent some quality time with his dad during his recovery. Of course, it was touching of Harry to rush to his dad but in reality, it can’t have done much good for either of them.”

Prince Harry‘s visit lasted just 30-minutes, with the King delaying his plans to meet with his son.

The royal commentator added that Harry should “learn to live his life” without sharing details of what he is up to. The father-of-two gave an interview just days after his visit, telling Good Morning America: “I love my family”.

She added: “Harry needs to back off and learn to live his life without publicising everything he and Meghan are doing.

“Perhaps a little humility might gain them more popularity than their endless PR announcements.”

While the King’s exact diagnosis has not been revealed, it is thought it has been caught early and is treatable. Prince William will take on more public engagements while his father undergoes treatment.

Harry said his father’s health could “reunite” the family, saying: “Any illness, any sickness brings family together.”

She added: “Harry needs to back off and learn to live his life without publicising everything he and Meghan are doing.

“Perhaps a little humility might gain them more popularity than their endless PR announcements.”
