killed three people in Kamwenge district. According to Kamwenge Resident District Commissioner, Isiah Kanyamahane Byarugaba, the suspected rebels raided Nyabitutsi village in Businge parish, Kamwenge sub-county on Christmas night and torched a house in which, three people died.

The dead include Adrine Ngwabiiji 78 and her two grandchildren who are yet to be identified. The attackers made off with ten goats and five cows.

Byarugaba explained that residents have teamed up with the Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF to track down the killers.

Byarugaba Isaiah Kanyamahane, the resident district commissioner for Kamwenge, told Xinhua earlier Tuesday that the attackers also looted 10 goats and some foodstuffs.

“The mode of attack is similar to that of the ADF rebels as witnessed recently. We suspect that the same rebels launched this attack,” he added.

In his message condemning the incident, president, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni said the attack was conducted by 4 killers believed to be the remnants of the Njovu-Kamusu group of 10 that entered Uganda from DRC Congo, some weeks ago.

“They had crossed back to Congo but came back.  They are the group that killed the children of Nyabugaando School, killed the two tourists and their driver, and burnt the onion truck,” he said.

“Last night, the same group that committed atrocities last week, killing 10 people, attacked another village where they were scavenging for food, and they killed a 75-year-old woman and her two grandchildren,” Felix Kulayigye, the military spokesperson, told local media Tuesday, adding that the group set ablaze the house of the victims.

Kulayigye said the army will continue to hunt for these groups until they are killed. “The army will, starting Wednesday, recruit local defense units to ensure the villages are safeguarded.”
