Korea Draws Friendly with Wales

Korea remains winless under head coach Jürgen Klinsmann after drawing a friendly against Wales 0-0 on Thursday.

Korea has played five friendlies since Klinsmann took the helm of the national team in March this year, recording three draws and two losses.

Korea struggled to find a successful strategy for attacking Wales, failing to create scoring opportunities and performing unconvincingly throughout the match.

The German coach has faced criticism for his “work from home” style as he has spent most of his time at his home in the U.S., holding press conferences via Zoom, and it will now only intensify.

Thursday’s match was all the more disappointing because Korea’s key Europe-based players were in good form, as shown in their recent club matches, and had no problems due to time differences. This will highly likely put Klinsmann’s work style under even more scrutiny.

Korea will face Saudi Arabia in Newcastle, England on Sept. 12. Saudi Arabia recently appointed renowned coach Roberto Mancini, who led Italy to victory at the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament, as its head coach.
