The road which is expected to consume 40 million shillings was lobbied by Hon Nakato from Uganda Road Fund (URF) through a letter to the fund’s executive director.
Accompanied by the Buyende Resident District Commissioner(RDC) Mr Kulaba Isabirye, the district road engineer Mr George Higenyi and other local leaders in Nkondo Sub-county, Hon Nakato said that the road network in the district happens to be unreliable in various areas but she pledged to work with the district leadership to spot out such challenges and how best they can be handled.
“I also thank the URF director for giving us a chance as people from this area and today we managed to launch the grading of the road and he also promised us another road from Kiwaaba-Kyangundu-Nakibengo,” she added.
She urged people in Buyende to be calm citing that all roads will be made passable with collective efforts from all leaders and called upon locals and leaders to work together for development in the Eastern District of Uganda, before beseeching the district roads engineer and his team to execute the work diligently.
Before launching the road works, Hon Nakato met with the council of Nkondo Sub-county led by the LC3 chairperson Mr Basoberwa Fred Byabagambi on the issue of Nkondo roads which are in a bad state and they resolved to work together without any difference, in solving community challenges regarding road network.
She donated shs500,000 to help connect the swamp between Buyamba, Kirimbi and Kirangira which is currently impassable in Ngandho Sub-county.
The district engineer Mr George Higenyi pledged to execute the road works diligently and assured leaders in Nkondo Sub-county and locals that the road will be made with first-class murram and that it will help them connect to other neighboring areas for businesses and other ventures.
“This road will be done in a standard way and expect the best at the end. The money will be put to good use and this road will help our people to connect to other neighboring villages, so I want to assure you that we shall use good murram on this road and it will be a nice one once done,” Mr Higenyi said.
Meanwhile, the RDC Mr Kulaba Isabirye commended the district woman representative Hon Nakato and other leaders for aiming at serving the people saying he always wish to reach all areas in Buyende but sometimes cut off due to poor road networks.
He also advised leaders to spread the message of the Parish Development Model (PDM) such that a number of people embrace it for development.
“I wish to reach all corners of this district but sometimes bad roads limit my movements. I therefore want to thank Hon Nakato and her fellow leaders who are working tirelessly to have this matter worked upon and we shall always support you in such projects,”
“I want to remind you of the government PDM program and also task you to encourage our people to embrace this program for development,” Mr Kulaba said before calling upon parents to educate their children in order to produce a variety of professionals who can work and benefit Buyende district.
