CAF:CAF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE CONFIRMS DATE FOR AFCON 2023 DRAWS

President Dr. Patrice Motsepe presided over a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee (“EXCO”) on Thursday in Algiers.

The newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) between CAF and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (“SAFF”) has been updated to the EXCO, who is enthusiastic about the enormous potential of advantages that could accrue to both parties.

The TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (“CAN”) Côte d’Ivoire 2023 preparations are moving forward, as the Executive Committee took note of this.

President Motsepe thanked President Alassane Ouattara and Prime Minister Patrick Achi of Côte d’Ivoire for their collaboration and dedication in making the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023 a world-class event.

The TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023 Official Draw will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, according to the EXCO’s announcement.

The format and dates of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying rounds were approved by the Executive Committee.

All 54 of CAF’s Member Associations will participate in the new format, which has been modified to align with FIFA’s expanded FIFA World Cup structure.

These 54 Member Associations will be grouped into nine (9) Groups.

the FIFA World Cup 2026 will automatically qualify the winners of each Group.

In a CAF Play-Off competition, the four top runners-up (from the Groups) will compete. The FIFA Play-Off Tournament will feature the winner of the CAF Play-Off tournament.

The night before the 45th CAF Ordinary General Assembly, on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 in Cotonou, Benin, will be when the FIFA World Cup 2026 African Qualifiers Official Draw will take place, according to the Executive Committee.

2023 Host for the CAF Women’s Champions League

The Executive Committee designated Côte d’Ivoire as the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League’s new host nation.

The TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023 will give Côte d’Ivoire the chance to test the venues by holding the CAF Women’s Champions League in 2023.

In due course, the dates will be finalized.
