Ssemogerere who was accompanied by priests, political leaders and the laity condemned evils such as corruption, land grabbing, murder, and others decrying the fact that many of the victims of these vices have not been helped.
The Way of the Cross, also known as the Way of Sorrows, refers to a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion and accompanying prayers.
The procession organized by the Uganda Joint Christian Council, which brings together Catholic, Anglican, and Orthodox churches, is celebrated annually on every Good Friday as a public expression of the suffering and persecution that Jesus Christ went through.

Speaking to the congregation at Old Kampala, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu thanked the Parliament of Uganda more so the Members of Parliament who fronted the Anti-Homosexuality Bill for standing firm amidst intimidation from people who support the vice.
Kaziimba went further to ask the President to assent to the bill to save the country from immorality.
In Lira, Christians from the Anglican, Catholic, and Orthodox Churches braced the morning sun to walk 16kms whereas while in Mbarara City, this year’s Way of the Cross brought together the Catholic and Anglican Church for the first time to commemorate Christ’s passion ahead of Easter celebrations on Sunday
