Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has reportedly had a catch-up this week with Manchester United’s Richard Arnold and Newcastle United’s Amanda Staveley.
Boehly completed his takeover of the Blues in May last year and has since spent around £600m on new players in two transfer windows as other Premier League clubs cast envious eyes on Stamford Bridge.

And the Chelsea chairman has now sat down for what the Metro is calling ‘secret talks’ with Man Utd chief executive Arnold and Newcastle’s Staveley.
There is speculation that they discussed Man City’s situation after the Citizens were charged with 115 alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules.
They had already met as part of a wider meeting of the 20 Premier League clubs. The Athletic explained their ‘catch-up’:
‘They’re already used to competing for players, Champions League places and trophies but that doesn’t mean the hierarchies of Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United can’t get along.
‘In fact, before Thursday’s Premier League shareholders meeting of all 20 clubs started, Richard Arnold, the Manchester United chief executive, met with Newcastle United’s Amanda Staveley and Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s co-owner, for refreshments. Arnold picked up the tab.
‘What they talked about, we do not know, but it would have been their only chance that day to discuss Manchester City’s impending legal battle with the Premier League’s independent commission as the topic was perhaps surprisingly not raised.
‘City are alleged to have breached more than 100 rules relating to alleged financial irregularities between 2009-10 and 2017-19 and failing to cooperate with an investigation since 2018.
‘The Premier League hosted chief executives and owners at The Churchill in London, where they spent Thursday and Friday discussing the top flight’s long-term strategy.
‘Even though it was new Premier League chairwoman Alison Brittain’s first strategy meeting, she had previously written to all 20 clubs and had met them on an individual basis after starting her role in January.’
Chelsea were on the wrong end of one of the weekend’s terrible VAR decisions with a clear penalty for handball waved away in their 1-1 draw against West Ham on Saturday.
Reacting to the decision, Potter said: “I thought it was a good save. You need your goalkeeper, sometimes, to get you the points.
“It hasn’t been given so there’s nothing for me to say. I’ve only seen it briefly. It looks like one of those ones that if it had been given I don’t think it would have been overturned. But it hasn’t been given, so I don’t know.
“It looks like a handball to me. I didn’t know Tomas could get down that easily and save like that. But it’s not for me to say about VAR. Sometimes they go for you and sometimes they don’t, you just have to accept that.”
