Garnacho is enjoying a breakout season under new boss Erik ten Hag. So far he has registered two goals and five assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.

The 18-year-old, who likes to operate from the left flank, is having a real impact on the Man Utd team and could end up becoming a regular starter in the next few years.

The only trouble with Garnacho’s impressive performances for Man Utd is that other big teams are taking an interest in him. Real Madrid are keeping tabs on his development and could submit a bid for him in the future.

And with his Man Utd contract expiring in summer 2024, there is a possibility he could push for a move away from Old Trafford in the next 12 months.

As such, Man Utd chiefs are working on getting him to pen a new contract. They reached a breakthrough in discussions on January 21. A report from the Daily Mirror claimed Garnacho would commit to the Red Devils until the 2030s.

Spanish source AS provide an update on the attacker’s situation. They state Man Utd are on the verge of announcing Garnacho’s fresh terms, with the deal ‘practically complete’.

That comes after Man Utd recently reached an agreement on two fronts with Garnacho. That is the financial terms of the contract and its length.

Forward to pledge future to Man Utd

AS dispute the previous claims about Garnacho extending until beyond 2030. Instead, it is revealed the Argentina U20 international will sign a deal lasting until 2028.

Once the new contract becomes official it will come as a major boost to everyone at Man Utd. In the report, Garnacho is described as Ten Hag’s ‘jewel’ thanks to his brilliant displays this term.

Man Utd coaches are very excited about him and believe he could have a huge impact on the club over the next five years, or potentially more.

Following Garnacho’s contract extension, Man Utd need to get to work on handing Marcus Rashford a new deal. Like Garnacho, his current terms expire in summer 2024, after they were extended by 12 months recently.

Rashford has been in stunning form this campaign, notching 18 goals in 31 appearances so far.

Paris Saint-Germain are known to be big admirers of the Englishman and could therefore launch a raid on Man Utd if he gets close to becoming a free agent. This should come as big motivation to Man Utd to begin contract renewals negotiations.

Garnacho and Rashford could both feature in Man Utd’s next game. They face Crystal Palace at home on Saturday afternoon. After that, Ten Hag’s men will come up against Leeds United on Wednesday evening.
