Uganda’s Speaker of Parliament Anita Among Rt.Hon. Anita Annet Among has lashed to the leadership of the committee on statutory and state enterprises (COSASE) over poor performance yet parliament facilitates the committee to perform its duties.
The Speaker Annet Anita Among has been delivering her communication to parliament.
Among says out of 107 entities the committee is supposed to investigate using the auditor general’s report of the financial year 2020/21, the committee has considered only four entities yet they are supposed to oversee all the entities in a period of six months.
Alex Ruhunda the Fort Portal Municipality MP who is a member of COSASE, a committee chaired by Nakawa West MP Joel Ssenyonyi says that he lost interest because of the management of the committee adding that the committee leaves out addressing real issues in the reports but rather its work is to attack on the personalities.
The leader of the opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba noted that for parliament to adopt the report of the auditor general without being investigated is not the proper way of handling parliament business.
