Manchester United target Wout Weghorst is “super excited” about his proposed move to Old Trafford, Fabrizio Romano has told GiveMeSport.
The transfer expert says the striker has spoken to Erik ten Hag and there is now an agreement in place between him and the Red Devils.
Man United transfer news – Wout Weghorst
Romano revealed on Tuesday that United have agreed a deal to sign Weghorst this month.
According to the Italian journalist, Besiktas, where the 30-year-old is currently on loan, will be paid €3m (£2.6m) as compensation.
However, he has also stated that the Black Eagles will only let him leave Turkey if they can find an adequate replacement.
It is an extremely complicated transfer, with Weghorst still owned by Burnley, who do not actually have the option to recall the Dutchman back from his loan.

What else has Fabrizio Romano said about Wout Weghorst and Man United?
Romano has told GMS that Weghorst has spoken to Ten Hag and is buzzing about the prospect of joining United.
Speaking about the Manchester club and the Netherlands international, he said: “They have an agreement with the player who immediately accepted to join Manchester United. He’s super excited about that possibility and also had a conversation with Ten Hag.”
Wout Weghorst’s stats for Burnley
If Weghorst joins United this month, they will obviously not be his first English club. He was a high-profile arrival at Burnley last January but was unable to help keep them in the Premier League.
As per Transfermarkt, the former Wolfsburg man scored just two goals in 20 top-flight appearances as the Clarets went on to finish in 18th. His overall record, though, is pretty good.
In 407 senior matches, Weghorst has found the back of the net 171 times. In a strong side like United, you would expect him to add to that.
Ultimately, while his first spell in England did not quite go to plan, it could be a different story second time around.
Whatever the case, following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, it is clear that United need another striker, and Weghorst could be a decent short-term option for them.
He has a good goalscoring record, will not cost too much money and is someone Ten Hag is familiar with after the player’s time in the Eredivisie.
There is no guarantee that Weghorst will be a success at Old Trafford, but United supporters will surely be happy to see their manager trying to address a problem area in the squad.
