Brazil’s 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup was announced on Monday afternoon and it was filled with quality.

Tite has included Ederson and Alisson – two of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Selecao possess three of the world’s best defenders in Eder Militao, Marquinhos and Thiago Silva.

Midfield powerhouses Casemiro and Fabinho have been called up.

While Brazil have no shortage of world-class attackers with the likes of Neymar, Gabriel Jesus, Vinicius Jr and Raphinha all in the squad.

One of the most notable omissions from the team is Liverpool star, Roberto Firmino.

Firmino has been in fine form for Liverpool this season and has been capped 55 times by his country.

But there was no place for the 31-year-old in the squad – Jesus was called up instead.

Firmino wasn’t the only big omission, though. You can actually make a strong XI of Brazilian players that were available but haven’t been called up.

After flattering to deceive up front, he switched to a midfield role and has excelled for Newcastle ever since.

Cunha joined Atletico in a £22 million move in 2021. The 23-year-old has been capped 8 times by his country.

ST: Roberto Firmino (Liverpool)

Firmino is still a superb player but misses out because of the amount of quality options Brazil have in attacking areas.

ST: Gabriel Barbosa (Flamengo)

Barbosa has scored 133 goals for Flamengo over the past four years and helped them to 11 trophies. He won’t play a part in Qatar, though.
