Former prime minister Theresa May looked emotional as she arrived by the Queen’s coffin to pay her respects. May has been vocal in recent days about her respect and fondness for the Queen from sharing anecdotes in the House of Commons to appearing on daytime television to tell Lorraine Kelly “she was the most remarkable person I have ever met”.
On Thursday (September 15) May was spotted queuing to pay her last respects to the Queen, joining members of the public to share one last touching moment with the monarch. The former prime minister curtsied to the Queen’s coffin in Westminster Hall.
She was joined by her husband, Philip, as they were seen both wearing black and reflecting on the Queen’s life. On Tuesday, Theresa May spoke to Lorraine Kelly about the former Queen and how seriously she took her duties as monarch.

She said: “The late Queen Elizabeth was an example of devotion to duty par excellence. She was the most remarkable person I’ve ever met. The combination of qualities she had, I haven’t come across in anybody else. I doubt we will see her like again.”
Some were frustrated by the fact that MPs and their friends, like May, have been allowed to skip the queue. Every MP is being issued with four passes to skip the 30-hour queue after a ruling by the Black Rod – the person who controls access to the House of Commons. Commons officials can also “queue jump” and bring one guest. But cleaners, security staff, workmen, and caterers involved in the huge operation will have to queue with the public, reports The Times.
