Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas snubbed Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema when naming his favourite for Ballon d’Or 2022.
The French star has had a mind-blowing 2021/22 as he ended top scorer in La Liga Real Madrid won and UEFA Champions league they clinched last Saturday against Liverpool in Stade de France.
The 34-year old scored 44 goals and provided 15 assists in 46 games across all competitions and is regarded as the greatest favourite to claim the top prize later this year.

However, Fabregas named another player and it is not even Sadio Mane whose name also comes back regularly among the favourites, nor Mohamed Salah.
The former Barcelona star tweeted about the possible winner of the Ballon d’Or 2022 ahead of the Champions league final.
“Not a big fan of individual trophies like that but surely the Ballon d’Or could/should be decided tonight. Mane, Salah, Benzema?”, he questioned before the game.
However, the ex-Arsenal star completely changed his mind after Thibaut Courtois stole the show with nine insane saves to claim the “Man Of The Match Award”.
“I would add and most probably give it to Courtois. Insane season”, he wrote in comment to his previous tweet.
