KAMPALA: The family of former Minister of Ethics and Integrity, Hon. Dr. Nsaba Buturo, has announced the death of their daughter, Rachael Buturo, who passed away yesterday December 17, 2025.
Rachael, a well-known Kampala socialite, was described by friends and acquaintances as kind, social and amiable, with many remembering her for her warm personality and ability to easily connect with people across different social circles in the city.
In a funeral announcement released by the family, Hon. Dr. Nsaba Buturo and his wife expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their daughter, describing it as a devastating moment for the family.
According to the burial programme, a vigil will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the family residence in Mutungo, beginning at 6:00 pm.
A funeral service will take place today Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Bugolobi Church of Uganda at 3:00 pm.
The body will later be transported to Kisoro District, where burial is scheduled for December 20, 2025, at 12:00 noon.
The family is yet to disclose the cause of Racheal’s death.
However, some close friends say she died after complaining of a migraine.
Hon. Dr. Nsaba Buturo is a former cabinet minister who served as Minister of Ethics and Integrity and has remained a prominent figure in Uganda’s public life.
Since news of Rachael Buturo’s passing broke, messages of condolence have continued to pour in from friends, members of the social scene in Kampala, religious leaders and members of the public, many of whom have described her as gentle, friendly and full of life.
