The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the world’s largest humanitarian organisation, is spread across 192 countries.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Red Cross for its humanitarian assistance to the people of Sri Lanka through the Sri Lanka Red Cross during every disaster in history, including the COVID Pandemic.
The Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Jagan Chapagan pointed out that the Sri Lanka Red Cross is one of the most active and transparent members of the Red Cross member countries around the world. He expressed confidence that priority will be given to their requests in future relief services and that they hope to provide benefits on behalf of Sri Lankan people.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Government fully supports the role played by the President of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Jagath Abeysinghe in providing relief to the people.
Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Secretary to the Prime Minister Anura Dissanayake, Udaya Regimi, Indian Regional Leading Representative to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Jagath Abeysinghe, President of the Red Cross Society of Sri Lanka Dr. Mahesh Gunasekara and Director General and Deputy Director General Aruna Lekamge were also present.
