Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zhang Lizhong Attends Donation Ceremony and Cultural Exchange Event in Kalangala Island_Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China

On November 15, Chinese Ambassador to Uganda H.E. Zhang Lizhong and Uganda’s Minister of Works and Transport Hon. Katumba Wamala visited Kalangala Island to attend the garbage truck & learning materials Donation Function and Local Schools Drawing Completion supported by CCCC Uganda and China Chamber of Commerce. In the presence of all attendees, the Chinese enterprises handed over the garbage collection truck and school supplies to the local community.

Ambassador Zhang praised Chinese enterprises in Uganda for fulfilling their corporate social responsibilities, integrating their own development with that of local communities. Their active participation in Uganda’s infrastructure, energy, and telecommunications projects, investment in industrial parks, and engagement in import-export trade and investment have helped elevate China-Uganda practical cooperation into new heights. Ambassador Zhang also noted that the recent Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee reviewed Recommendation for the 15th Five-Year Plan, while Uganda has formulated its latest National Development Plan IV. China and Uganda will enhance synergy of the development strategies of each other, advancing hand in hand as partners on the path to modernization.

Hon. Katumba Wamala thanked Chinese enterprises for the donations and highly commended the positive contributions of China-Uganda cooperation to Uganda’s economic and social development. He expressed hopes to launch more cooperation projects in local fisheries, tourism, and livelihood sectors with the Chinese side.
