Enforce the laws to end Violence against Women and Girls in Uganda- Civil society applied to Government.

Civil society organizations under the Domestic Act Coalition are calling on government to strengthen the enforcement of existing laws to end violence against women and children in Uganda.
Addressing journalists ahead of the 16 Days of Activism, which officially start tomorrow, the Program Officer at Uganda Women’s Network, Turiho Danita Karungi, urged government to invest more in prevention and response mechanisms for gender-based violence, emphasizing the need to support shelters and safe spaces for survivors.

Karungi noted with concern that since many donors cut funding to survivor-led organizations, several of these groups have closed down, leaving victims of gender-based violence more vulnerable and without critical support services.

The coalition is appealing for renewed government commitment to ensure protection, justice, and adequate resources to combat GBV across the country.
