In abide to promote and develop talents in Uganda NIC General Insurance has today announced a landmark sponsorship package valued at USD 2 million to support the She Cranes, Uganda’s national netball team, together with their technical officials, as they finalize preparations for the Celtic Netball Cup.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from 26–30 November 2025 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.
The sponsorship package, an equivalent of Seven Billion, two hundred eighty million Uganda shillings was unveiled today by Edu Elias, Managing Director, NIC General Insurance, reaffirming the company’s long-standing commitment to nurturing sports excellence and elevating Uganda’s visibility on the international netball stage.

Edu Elias the managing director NIC insurance stressed that this will cover the whole team and officials travelling alongside them for the games.
This support comes at a pivotal moment as the She Cranes unveil their final squad for this prestigious championship.
Uganda has continued to cement its position as a fast-rising force in global netball, and the upcoming Celtic Netball Cup presents a strategic platform for the team to demonstrate their skill, discipline, and national pride.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mr. Elias highlighted that the sponsorship reflects NIC General Insurance’s holistic approach to national development beyond its core financial services.“Our partnership with the She Cranes is not just an investment in sport, but an investment in Uganda’s youth, talent, and international competitiveness. We are proud to stand with the team as they prepare to raise our flag in Scotland,” he said.
The sponsorship package covers team welfare, travel facilitation, high-performance preparation, insurance coverage, and logistical support for both players and technical officials. The company emphasized that empowering women in sports remains a central pillar of its corporate social responsibility mandate.
Officials from the Uganda Netball Federation expressed profound appreciation for the support, noting that such strategic partnerships are vital to sustaining the She Cranes’ impressive performance record:“This support from NIC General Insurance comes at the perfect time. It boosts the players’ confidence and strengthens our preparations for a tournament of this magnitude,” a federation representative stated.
The She Cranes are expected to depart for Scotland in the coming days as they prepare to face top-ranked teams in the second edition of the Celtic Netball Cup.NIC General Insurance reiterates its commitment to fostering sports development, youth empowerment, and community transformation across Uganda.
