Former Uganda Minister for Ethics and Integrity Fr Simon Lokodo is dead, the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) has confirmed.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that Fr Simon Lokodo, a member of the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) collapsed on Thursday 27th before he was rushed to ICU, where he succumbed to COVID-19 on Saturday 29th morning in Geneva, Switzerland.
UHRC broke the news on Twitter saying, “It is with great shock and pain that we‘ve learnt of the passing of our Honourable Member of the Commission, Fr. Simon Lokodo. He passed on this morning in Geneva Switzerland. The Commission will share details in due course.”
Lokodo served as Minister of State for Ethics & Integrity in the Office of the President since 2011 before being dropped in2021. Previously he was the Minister of State for Industry from 2009 to 2011. He served as Member of Parliament representing Dodoth County in Kaabong District since 2006 till losing his seat in 2021.
Previously, he was the Minister of State for Industry from 2009 to 2011.
He also represented Dodoth County (Kaabong district) in Parliament from 2006, but later lost the seat after failing to win the NRM party flag. He was defeated in the primaries by Ben Koryang. Koryang.
Lokodo was then appointed to the UHRC as a member by President Yoweri Museveni.
