The Zonal Commander of Greater Masaka Region Commissioner of Police (CP) Godfrey Maate, has died. CP Maate is said to have collapsed while he was on duty in Sango Bay in Kyotera District. He was taken to a nearby clinic for medical attention, where he died on Sunday night, according to police.6

Commissioner of Police Maate Godfrey, who was serving as the Commander of Sango Bay Police Operations, has passed away.

According to reports, Maate collapsed while on duty in Kyotera and was rushed to a nearby health facility, where he was pronounced dead.

His death was confirmed in an official statement released by the police:

“We sadly announce the death of Commissioner of Police Maate Godfrey, Commander of Sango Bay Police Operations. He passed away yesterday in Kyotera District.”

This tragic news comes just days after the burial of the late Director of Human Rights and Legal Services, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Charles Katalatambi.

Commissioner Maate previously served as the Kasese District Police Commander and held various other leadership roles within the force.
