Presidential Candidates’ Agents Gather for Campaign Preparation Ahead of September 29 Launch

Ahead of the official start of the 2025 presidential campaigns on September 29, Uganda’s Electoral Commission (EC) is bringing together official agents of all candidates for a campaigns harmonization meeting. The meeting, scheduled for this morning at the EC headquarters, is aimed at ensuring that all parties are aligned on rules, schedules, and procedures before the campaign period begins.

According to the Commission’s spokesperson, Joseph Mucunguzi, the meeting will provide a platform for candidates’ agents to clarify any concerns, understand the guidelines for the campaigns, and discuss ways to maintain fairness and order during the upcoming political season. “We want to ensure that the campaigns are conducted smoothly, peacefully, and according to the law,” he said.

This harmonization program is seen as a critical step in preparing for the election period. By bringing together representatives from all presidential campaigns, the EC hopes to prevent misunderstandings, address potential conflicts in advance, and promote transparency in the electoral process.

Political observers note that such meetings are vital in Uganda’s election cycle, as they set the tone for a peaceful and organized campaign season. With the campaigns officially slated to commence on September 29, attention is now on how candidates will engage the public and present their manifestos.

The meeting also signals the EC’s commitment to providing a level playing field for all contestants and ensuring that voters have access to credible and well-coordinated election campaigns. Citizens and political supporters are watching closely, eager to see how the campaigns will unfold in the weeks leading up to the polls.
