Arts teachers announce strike ahead of 3rd term

Uganda National Teachers Union -UNATU has announced their planned industrial action over what they termed as government inaction in addressing salary disparities for three years now
According to UNATU General Secretary Filbert Baguma,  their action has been fueled by continued neglect of their demands even after several engagements.
On monday, 15th, learners across the country will resume studies for term three.
In the same vain, Uganda National Teachers Union-UNATU has announced the resumption of their industrial action over the government’s silence on salary disparities
According to UNATU, there have been repeated engagements with several stakeholders including written requests for meetings with the Office of the President,  the Office of the Head of Public Service and formal communication to the Ministries of Public Service, Education &  and other line ministries
Similarly, UNATU petitioned the Equal Opportunities Commission, but to no feedback compelling their action
In their call for industrial action,
UNATU has emphasized that their action is non-political, lawful, and peaceful in line with their right to take industrial action
UNATU  has asked all teachers who are not happy with what they termed as unfairness to let your action speak louder come Monday, 15th September 2025.
All UNATU members in the affected categories from both primary and Post Primary schools and education institutions have vowed not to report for duty until the government takes action
