President Museveni Offers Shs1.2 Billion Bonus per Win for Uganda Cranes at CHAN 2024.

Uganda is co-hosting CHAN 2024 alongside Kenya and Tanzania, with Group C matches being played at Namboole. The Cranes are determined to break past the group stage for the first time in their CHAN history, having failed to advance in all six of their previous appearances.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged a massive bonus of Shs1.2 billion for every match the Uganda Cranes win during the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The announcement was delivered to the team on Monday by Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President Moses Magogo, just hours before Uganda’s opening match against Algeria at Mandela National Stadium (Namboole) scheduled for 8:00 PM.

In a further show of national support, Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among paid a surprise visit to the Cranes’ training camp on Sunday, offering both encouragement and financial incentives to boost morale.

“Play with heart, play for your country, and play to win. The whole nation is behind you,” Among urged, relaying a message of solidarity from President Museveni, whom she hailed as “Uganda football’s number one fan.”

Among described the team’s participation as an act of patriotism and reaffirmed State House’s full support throughout the tournament.
