Territorial police in Kisoro District are actively investigating circumstances surrounding an incident where Hon. John Kamara Nzeyimana, the area’s Member of Parliament, allegedly aided seven suspects in escaping from lawful custody.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 28, 2025, at approximately 2:00 PM, shortly after the suspects had been arrested and brought to Kisoro Central Police Station for questioning in connection with a case of arson and malicious damage to property.

According to Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, the suspects – identified as Gasigwa Jeremiah, Harerimana Augustine, Nkurunziza Apollo, Bavuzayubusa Paskazia, Mujawimana Dinavance, and Basekuye Teleza – along with Hon. John Kamara himself, were linked to an arson attack on the home of Mahoro Jackline on May 3rd, stemming from a village dispute.
