GOV’T TO INCREASE PDM CASH TO 1BN FOR URBAN PARISHES – MUSEVENI
President Yoweri Museveni has revealed that the Parish Development Model (PDM) money is going to be increased tenfold from Shs100m to Shs1bn for the urban-based parishes in the city divisions to support household income generation.
The President made the revelation during a rally at Kawempe Mbogo Grounds, accompanied by the Government Chief Whip Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, Hon. Evelyn Anite, Minister of State for Privatization and Investment and Hon. Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune, State Minister for Micro-Finance, where he also urged residents to embrace government wealth creation programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga.
“Instead of putting Shs100million per division, I will now put Shs1bn and this shall only be for the ghetto-like groups since there are more people in towns than in the rural areas,” said Museveni.
He emphasized that peace is essential for development and highlighted that infrastructure alone such as roads, hospitals, and buildings is not enough, however, households must also generate wealth.
The President encouraged citizens to utilize government funds effectively to improve their standards of living and assured them of continued support in transforming livelihoods through inclusive economic initiatives.
