Over 40 Democratic Front Aspirants Nominated on Day One of Party Primaries

More than 40 aspiring candidates under the Democratic Front have returned their expression of interest forms and been officially nominated on the first day of the party’s month-long primary exercise ahead of the upcoming general elections.

The exercise, which is scheduled to run for an entire month, kicked off today, and by 3 PM, over 40 candidates had returned their expression of interest forms.
Among these are 9 aspirants seeking parliamentary seats, as well as LC5 chairpersons, Lord and District councilors, city division mayors, and councilors, plus division mayors and sub-county councilors.
Also included are chairpersons for  LC1 and LC2s
Mr. Henry Lubowa, the Party’s Electoral Commission chairperson, informed the media that the first day of the exercise went well.

Lubowa, however, warned ticket hopefuls to desist from carrying prizes to the EC commissioners in hopes of luring them into favoring their nominations.

Flavia Nakafeero, the aspiring woman member of Parliament for Wakiso District on the Democratic Front ticket, listed several initiatives she wishes to emphasize if elected.

Hakim Ssemuwemba Ndawula informed the media after his nomination that his decision to choose the Democratic Front instead of other parties was based on the political maturity exhibited by DF political players.

Mrs. Nangobi Shamim from Jinja City was also nominated for Jinja West as an aspiring member of Parliament, while Alisha Luwalira was nominated for the Makindye Division mayoral seat.
