Kasanje, Wakiso District | July 9, 2025 —President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on the residents of Nakasozi Village, Ziba Ward in Kasanje Town Council, Wakiso District, to elect leaders from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party if they are to benefit from improved service delivery and critical infrastructure development.

The President has made these remarks during his visit to Mabamba Farm House and Agro-Tourism Center, an agricultural demonstration hub owned by former Sheema District Woman MP, Hon. Jacklet Atuheire. He has emphasized that opposition-led areas tend to lag behind in development due to poor coordination and leadership.

“If you keep voting opposition leaders, you delay your own progress. They don’t work well with the government and can’t push your issues effectively. Support NRM if you want roads, electricity, and other services,”

During his visit, President Museveni has pledged to oversee the construction of the Nakawuka–Kasanje Road, a long-awaited infrastructure project for the area. The road works are expected to commence in four months and will be completed within 18 months, according to the President.

Additionally, Museveni has promised to extend electricity to the farm and construct two fish ponds to boost local incomes through aquaculture.

The President has also lauded Hon. Jacklet Atuheire for her innovative 4-Acre Model farm, which promotes diversified agricultural income on small pieces of land. As a gesture of support, he has donated UGX 12 million to Atuheire to help her purchase a Friesian cow, further enhancing her dairy farm.

Atuheire shared the impressive earnings from her farm, which serves as a practical demonstration of agricultural profitability:

Poultry: UGX 12 million per month

Banana plantation: UGX 19 million annually

Dairy: UGX 14 million per annum from selling 45 liters of milk daily

The President has also recognized the efforts of Parish Development Model (PDM) committee members in Nakasozi Village for their role in community mobilization and development. He has awarded UGX 1 million to each committee member, and UGX 6 million to the LC1 Chairperson to purchase a Boda Boda.

The Parish Development Model (PDM) is a government initiative aimed at transitioning subsistence households into the money economy, through organized, bottom-up economic planning at the parish level. The model has been a cornerstone of President Museveni’s recent wealth creation campaigns, targeting improved household incomes, especially in rural areas.

Museveni’s visit forms part of his ongoing nationwide monitoring of PDM implementation and efforts to boost agriculture-led transformation in Uganda.
