NRM Electoral Commission releases roadmap for CEC Nominations

The NRM Electoral Commission has officially announced the expression of interest and nomination roadmap for party members seeking to contest for positions on the Central Executive Committee (CEC) the party’s highest decision-making organ responsible for strategic leadership and direction.

According to Hon. Emmanuel Dombo, Director of Communication at the NRM Secretariat, the expression of interest period will run from June 26 to July 1, 2025, followed by nominations from July 2 to 4.

The process will be headlined by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is expected to pick nomination forms this Saturday, June 28, as he seeks to retain his positions as NRM National Chairman and Presidential Flag Bearer ahead of the 2026 general elections.

President Museveni is scheduled to return the forms and be formally nominated on Friday, July 1.

Hon. Dombo further revealed that 14 members have so far been nominated unopposed—10 as flag bearers for Members of Parliament and 4 for district chairperson positions.

“This reflects growing internal consensus and unity within the party,” Hon. Dombo said.

The release of the roadmap marks a significant step as the NRM gears up for internal elections and prepares its leadership structure ahead of the 2026 polls
