Kenyan legislators chased down but failed to outrun their Ugandan counterparts as Parliament of Uganda registered successive wins in the long distance races during the first day involving athletics on Monday 8 December 2025.
Honorable Mwine Mpaka Rwamirama and Emmanuel Omoding Okabe were the standout performers as Uganda’s Parliament outclassed Kenya 48–34 in a thrilling 2025 Inter-Parliamentary Games basketball clash at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
Mpaka, the Mbarara City South legislator, set the tone early with his trademark intensity. After the break, Uganda tightened their grip with another 14–8 quarter, led this time by the unstoppable Emmanuel Omoding. The Serere County power forward was in ruthless form, finishing as Uganda’s top scorer with 11 points. His presence in the paint troubled the Kenyans all the evening.

While Mpaka provided leadership, energy and 10 crucial points, Uganda also benefited from a big performance by Bosco Okiror, who posted a notable double-double — 10 points and 11 defensive rebounds — anchoring Uganda’s interior.
For Kenya, Senator Allan Kiprotich Chesang led the scoring chart with 9 points, while Machakos Town MP Caleb Mutiso Mule and Nyeri Town MP Dancan Maina were strong on the boards with seven rebounds apiece.
Uganda’s dominant display, driven by Mpaka’s early spark and Omoding’s scoring power, ensured a well-deserved win and set the tone for their Inter-Parliamentary Games campaign.
