KCB Bank Uganda Powers Successful Kenya Day- KCB Golf Tournament While Celebrating Uganda-Kenya Bilateral Ties

The spirit of East African cooperation and competitive sportsmanship shone brightly as KCB Bank Uganda successfully hosted the Kenya Day – KCB Golf Tournament at the historic Uganda Golf Club. The event celebrated the strong bilateral ties and shared economic vision between Kenya and Uganda.

More than 150 top amateur golfers from clubs and corporate organizations took on the challenging Kitante course in a Stableford-format tournament. The lush fairways and fast greens demanded precision and strategy, resulting in a highly competitive day of play.

To ensure fair competition, men competed in three handicap categories—A, B, and C—while the ladies competed in two groups, A and B. A special category was dedicated to senior golfers aged 55 and above.

The spirit of East African cooperation and competitive sportsmanship was on full display as KCB Bank Uganda successfully hosted the prestigious Kenya Day – KCB Golf Tournament at the historic Uganda Golf Club. The event served as a vibrant celebration of the enduring bilateral relationship and shared economic destiny between the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Uganda.

Over 150 top amateur golfers, representing various clubs and corporate bodies, navigated the challenging Kitante course, competing in the popular Stableford format across various handicap categories. The lush fairways and fast greens tested the players’ precision and strategy, culminating in a highly competitive day of play.

The tournament featured an array of flights designed to ensure equitable competitive play. Men’s players competed in three handicap groups (A, B, and C), while the Ladies’ field was split into two categories (A and B). A dedicated category honoured the dexterity of the Seniors 55+ flight. The coveted title of Overall Winner, receiving a grand prize of a return air ticket courtesy of Kenya Airways, went to the player who demonstrated exceptional consistency and skill across 18 holes.

The following players emerged victorious across the respective flights:

  • Overall Winner (Men) – Eric Miller with 47 points
  • Overall Winner (Ladies) – Joyce Kisembo with 40 points
  • Ladies’ Category A Winner – Gloria Mbaguta with 36 points
  • Ladies’ Category B Winner– Evelyn Atukunda with 36 points
  • Ladies Category C Winer – Josephine Babirye with 35 points
  • Men’s Category A Winner – Paul Ndyaguma with 39 points
  • Men’s Category B Winner – Micheal Nimoh with 42 points
  • Men’s Category C Winner – Alex Muwanguzi with 42 points
  • Senior Men Winner – Dominic Tumwesiye with 37 points
  • Senior Lady Winner – Grace Kabonero with 32 points

The battle for the side bets was equally intense, rewarding players for specific displays of power and accuracy:

  • Nearest to the Pin (Men) – Micheal Muhangi
  • Nearest to the Pin (Ladies) – Zhang Fangyi
  • Longest Drive (Men) – Nam Young Kim
  • Longest Drive (Ladies) – Danelle Kawalya

Wario Guyo, Representative of the Kenya High Commission in Uganda added, “Kenya Day is a moment to celebrate our unity, and what better way than through sport? The camaraderie witnessed on the tee boxes and the fairways today is precisely the spirit of collaboration we champion in trade, tourism, and diplomacy. We thank KCB Bank Uganda for delivering this world-class event.”

Paul Charles Rukundo, Captain of the Uganda Golf Club, commented on the course conditions, “The Uganda Golf Club was honoured to host the KCB Kenya Day tournament. The course was in superb condition, offering a true test of golf. The level of competitive play was incredibly high, demonstrating the rising standard of amateur golf in East Africa. We deeply appreciate KCB’s sustained support for the sport.”
