NATIONAL

Mr. Patrick Kyamukaate Mutabwire, who was Jacqueline Mbabazi’s competitor in the NRM primaries for Flagbearer for Older Persons Member of Parliament representing Western Region and had vowed to contest as an Independent has bowed out of the race.

Kyamukaate took the bold decision today Monday 20th October, 2025 in a reconciliatory meeting brokered by the Rt. Hon. Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa at his Parliamentary office.

“I convened a reconciliation meeting this morning at Parliament between Mrs. Jacqueline Mbabazi, the NRM flag bearer for Older Persons Member of Parliament representing Western Region, and Mr. Patrick Kyamukaate Mutabwire, who was her competitor in the NRM primaries. I would like to thank Mr. Mutabwire for agreeing not to contest as an independent and for choosing to support Mrs. Jacqueline. We are stronger when united as one family under,” writes Tayebwa on his X-Handle.

Jacqueline Mbabazi’s quest for the MP Seat has been marred with challenges including a nullification of her earlier victory at Kololo Ceremonial grounds.

The NRM Elections Tribunal, later ordered for fresh elections, which fortunately the wife to former Prime Minister won. Kyamukaate however, remained dissatisfied and vowed to contest as an Independent Candidate.
