FDC’s Nandala Mafabi Defies Police Blockades, Addresses Supporters in Moroto
Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) supporters braved police roadblocks and security personnel to attend a campaign rally in Moroto town.
Despite the police’s efforts to barricade the roads, Nandala Mafabi, the FDC presidential candidate, addressed his supporters amid cheers and Kadodi tunes.
*Security Forces Withdraw*
After about a two-hour standoff, the security personnel, including army, police, and prison officers, withdrew, allowing Mafabi to address the crowds.
Earlier, Mafabi had clashed with security operatives in Nakapiripirit, who tried to direct him to areas with fewer people.
*Mafabi’s Message*
Addressing the excited crowd, Mafabi apologized for the delay in reaching the campaign rally venue.
He assured the people of Moroto of his love for Karamoja, highlighting his investments in the region.
Mafabi outlined the FDC’s key priorities, including:
– *Wealth Creation*: Chasing poverty and enabling citizens to benefit from natural resources
– *Infrastructure Development*: Improving roads and other critical infrastructure
– *Healthcare*: Equipping health facilities to provide quality services
– *Entrepreneurship*: Providing free seed capital for businesses and exempting them from taxes until they expand
Mafabi was accompanied by top FDC officials, including Party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat, Treasurer Geoffrey Ekanya, and Party Electoral Commission Chairperson Boniface Toterebuka among others.
