KAMPALA – The National Unity Platform (NUP) has officially unveiled its flag bearers for the 2026 general elections across the central region, naming candidates who will represent the party in various constituencies for both woman representative and directly elected Member of Parliament seats.

The unveiling comes after a rigorous internal selection process aimed at strengthening the party’s position ahead of the hotly contested 2026 polls. The list covers districts including Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, Masaka, Luweero, Mityana, Kayunga, Kiboga, Rakai, and others within the central region.

Among the notable flag bearers are Shamim Malende (Kampala Woman MP), Joel Ssenyonyi (Nakawa West), Francis Zaake (Mityana Municipality), Betty Nambooze (Mukono Municipality), Mathias Walukagga (Busiro East). The party has also fronted strong women leaders such as Shakira Namiiro Zinga (Kalungu Woman MP), Brenda Nabukenya (Luweero Woman MP), Nanyondo Veronica Namaganda (Bukomansimbi Woman MP), and Namutaawe Joan (Masaka Woman MP).

In his message during the unveiling, NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, congratulated those who secured the party flag but urged them to remain humble and work hand-in-hand with colleagues who did not make the final list.

The NUP leader emphasized that the 2026 elections are not only about winning seats but about consolidating a people-powered movement to transform Uganda. He called for unity, discipline, and collective effort to ensure victory at both parliamentary and presidential levels.
