Kampala, Uganda: The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has released the official timetable for the 2025 national examinations, covering the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), while cautioning candidates and schools against examination malpractice.
According to the schedule, UCE candidates will be the first to sit for their final exams, starting with a briefing on October 10, 2025, followed by Geography and Biology theory papers on October 13, 2025. The exams will end on November 7, 2025.
PLE candidates will be briefed on October 31, 2025, and will sit for Mathematics, their first paper, on November 3 and English on November 4, 2025. UACE candidates will begin with their briefing on November 7, 2025, with papers running until December 5, 2025.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, UNEB Executive Director Dan N. Odongo urged candidates to approach the examinations with confidence, stressing that the assessments are designed to measure learners’ achievements and shape their future career paths.
Dr Odongo also issued a stern warning against malpractice, including the smuggling of unauthorized materials, impersonation, collusion, and the use of mobile phones. “Candidates and all concerned must note that involvement in malpractice in one paper shall lead to the cancellation of results of the whole examination,” he said.
Accessing the Time Table
Dr Odongo said heads of examination centers can access the timetables from their school portals, while hard copies will also be provided along with the other stationery. “UNEB has also printed enough copies for all the candidates of UCE and UACE, and therefore, schools should ensure that every candidate receives a copy of the timetable, as part of the preparation process,” he said.
“The timetables should also be displayed on the school noticeboards for interested parties to access,” he added, emphasizing that “Braille versions of the UCE, as well as UACE Time Tables, have also been provided for Special Needs Education (SNE) candidates with visual impairment.”
This year’s exams, according to Mr Odongo, will also emphasize Continuous Assessment (CA), with schools required to submit learners’ scores by September 30, 2025, through the online portal. UNEB clarified that candidates without CA scores in any subject will not be graded.
