Uganda Airlines seals interline partnership with Air India, expanding global reach

ENTEBBE – Uganda Airlines has marked another milestone in its growth journey by announcing an interline partnership with Air India, one of the world’s leading carriers. Effective 25th August 2025, the agreement was officially unveiled on 17th September in Entebbe, strengthening Uganda’s position on the global aviation map.

The partnership allows travelers from Entebbe to book a single ticket and seamlessly connect to over 25 destinations across India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Kolkata. Beyond India, passengers gain access to global hubs such as London Heathrow, Singapore, Bangkok, Colombo, and Dhaka through Air India’s extensive network.

The arrangement also opens Africa to Air India passengers. Travelers from Asia can now connect directly to Entebbe, before exploring Uganda’s world-famous wildlife, landscapes, and business opportunities, or continuing to other regional destinations such as South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Zambia via Uganda Airlines’ growing route network.

Uganda Airlines Chief Executive Officer, Jenifer Bamuturaki, hailed the partnership as a breakthrough.

“We are excited to launch this partnership with Air India, an iconic brand in global aviation. This interline agreement is a significant step in our strategy to connect Uganda to Africa and beyond. It offers our customers a smooth, single-ticket travel experience to dozens of new destinations, while strengthening economic and cultural ties between our regions,” she said.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, shared similar enthusiasm:

“We are happy to partner with Uganda Airlines in enhancing connectivity between India and Africa. This collaboration not only provides our customers seamless access to Uganda and Africa but also welcomes Ugandan travelers to explore India’s vast network, building stronger ties between our regions.”

Since its revival in 2019, Uganda Airlines has built a reputation as the “Pearl of Africa’s gateway,” operating one of the youngest fleets on the continent. For Air India, with more than 300 aircraft and over 55 international destinations, the partnership complements its ambitious transformation plan.

This collaboration is more than aviation—it is about linking two continents rich in history, culture, and commerce. For Ugandans, it unlocks easier access to Asia’s markets and opportunities. For Indians, it opens the doors to Africa’s Pearl, with its wildlife, landscapes, and vibrant business potential. The new Entebbe–Mumbai bridge is not just about flights, but about friendships, trade, tourism, and a closer world
