Eng. Ronald Balimwezo threatens to seek court Injuction to halt Hammis Kiggundu’s Nakivubo Channel works

 By Godfrey Kiyingi/KMA Updates.
The aspiring Lord Mayor and Nakawa East Member of Parliament, Eng. Ronald Balimwezo, has threatened to seek a court injunction to halt ongoing works on the Nakivubo channel, following what he describes as an unlawful takeover by city tycoon Hamis Kiggundu.
The businessman, commonly known as Ham, recently fenced off sections of the channel, allegedly without approved development plans or clearance from the Kampala Capital City Authority’s (KCCA) political leadership.
Balimwezo expressed concern over what he termed a forceful and illegal encroachment on public infrastructure by a private individual for personal benefit.
According to the legislator, no official documentation has been presented to show that the channel’s giveaway was ever sanctioned by the council.
He says soon is writing to KCCA to formally request the minutes of council meetings that previously rejected the transfer of this channel to Ham and then  assess the legal grounds and take appropriate action, including seeking an injunction against the development.
However Balimwezo retariate his support for the redevelopment and modernization of the channel though stressed that any such project must follow due process and uphold public interest.
